Terran Siege Tank

The Siege Tank is a Terran heavy unit. It can be upgraded to allow transformation into Siege Mode, providing long-range artillery support.

Siege Tanks in Siege Mode have the longest attack range of any unit in Starbow, 12, which is even greater than their sight range, so they benefit from having other units or lifted buildings for spotting. This is especially noticeable in battles between Siege Tanks in TvT, since better vision means that a player can shoot the other player's Tanks without getting hit in response.

However Siege Mode weapon has a minimum range of 2, meaning that if units get on top of Tanks they cannot fire back. Also since Siege Tanks deal friendly damage and they overkill dropping some units in a group of Sieged Tanks means that a lot of Tanks will die from the friendly fire, especially if they are too close.

Tank mode is usually used (apart for moving) to avoid friendly fire and in the early game to repel small groups of units such as Dragoons when Siege Mode isn't available yet. Siege Tanks in Tank mode still have a better than average 7 range and a decent damage output.

Deploys into Siege Mode. In this mode, Siege Tanks have very long range and inflict area damage. Siege Tanks in this mode cannot move, and they cannot attack targets within close range.

Tank Mode

Duration: 4 seconds

Reverts to Tank Mode. In this mode Siege Tanks can move, but they deal less damage.
