Description[]
The Mutalisk is a fast flying zerg unit. Has a low range attack that bounces twice dealing decreasing damage to up to three units (if they are close enough). Mutalisks are usually used for harass and map control in the mid game. Loses effectiveness in the late game, when it can still be made if the opponent has weak anti-air or to snipe key targets (e.g. High Templars or Plagued Science Vessels).
Mutalisks are usually used in quite large groups and kept stacked as much as possible, unless splash damage is present e.g. against Archons . This allows the Mutalisks to be controlled as a single unit, making all shoot the same target at the same time if needed and mitigating the losses by making it difficult to focus fire the same Mutalisk consistently.
Can be mutated into Devourer to specialize in an anti-air role or into Guardians to become an anti-ground siege unit. Morphing is especially useful once it's difficult to harass and the Mutalisks would otherwise be useless.
The Overlord Trick from BW can be used but makes only a very slight difference.[1]
